Beware of Counterfeit Sterling Silver Chains

The trend these days seems to be "Counterfeit Everything." I have been duped twice with these counterfeit item on Ebay; once with a torch and just lately I was sold fake sterling silver chains (even though they are stamped and clearly indicated in the description: .925 Sterling Silver Chains).

I almost began hyperventilating after I realized I had sold many of my pieces with these chains and so I am sending out this warning to all who are dealing with jewelry to please beware of where your chains come from.

Here are a few tips to protect yourself and your loyal customers:

- If the price is too good to be true, a red light should go off because it usually is.

- Only purchase from a reputable business.

- Beware of purchasing this type of item from Ebay or similar sites (unless you know the shop owner is reliable.)

- One way to check to see if your chains are not sterling silver (use a magnet, if they stick to the magnet, they are NOT sterling silver). **If a chain does not stick to a magnet doesn't necessary prove that it is Sterling Silver, because other types of counterfeit metals can be used which are not magnetic as well. That being said, it can sort of guide you, I know it did me.

I hope this information can be of help everyone who deals with sterling silver. :)
