Cleaning Up

Well, I'm taking advantage of this time to clean up my work areas.  Because I'm into many different crafts and such, I have multiple work stations and you can only imagine how messy that can be.  I finally got everything out of my main work room, or as my friend would say "catastrophe room."

I posted a while back about the beautiful guest room I was planning to put together and I had chosen the color which I also posted.  Well... it turns out, I didn't quite like the color  and I had to change it.  Not that the original color wasn't nice; it was just too loud for me.  I was aggravated just to walk into the room and so  I finally decided to change it to a more subtle and relaxing color.  And I must say, I do not regret my decision because it's just beautiful!!  With this new sea foam / aqua color, the room embraces you when you walk in; what you want every guest room to do!!

My husband repainted the whole room for me and we changed the door and we'll be adding a closet.  Go figure, we always choose houses with no closet space!!  The great thing, though, is that both upstairs rooms are quite large and therefore can easily accommodate a closet.  I'm really looking forward to the closet!

I'm designing this guest room on a very limited budget and I love the challenge!!  I've been browsing through Kijiji,  for some awesome finds!!  I'm looking for a cozy reading chair, something I could slip cover.  I'll also need a small table for a nook area with coffee pot.  I have some interesting items I'll be able to transform as well, like a gorgeous, antique wooden trunk that still belongs to my daughter, but I'm thinking I could make a small stand and sit it up to use as a very unique night stand.  I also have small, antique, metal trunks that could make something unique!!  I already have a beautiful, antique dresser in the room, which I will be painting white to fit in the whole scheme.  Plus, at my husband's dismay, I've been saving these beautiful wood legs with the idea of making a bench or an ottoman one day, and I think that day has arrived!   I will finally use them to make a practical seating area and storage place for an extra blanket and decorative cushions at the foot of the bed.

What I love most when I decorate a room are originality and uniqueness.  I came across this wonderful, yet simple idea for adding a bit of interest to window treatments:  Adding buttons, horizontally all along the top of the panel in such a way that it will display the buttons on each fold of the panel itself.  I found some old, mother of pearl buttons (they're just beautiful), which have that natural ivory color to them and they will look great in that room!!  They will absolutely compliment the whole theme which will be around the beach.  This will not be your typical nautical theme, but a very soft, warm, cozy, shabby chic atmosphere with class and sophistication.

That's it for now.  We have some things to do today, but we resume our work tomorrow and I will keep you posted of our progress!!

New Victorian Antiqued Sterling Silver Spoon Earrings

I just added a pair of beautiful, antiqued, Victorian style spoon earrings in quality, .925 sterling silver.  I handmade the ear wires in sterling silver as well.

What I love about these earrings is the fact that they're somewhat long with awesome Victorian elegance.  I used the handle part of the spoon to create these beauties.  I wanted to add a unique look to them and so I very lightly hammered the center part of each one to create an icy effect, which turned out to be very cool.  I love to mix up different styles to create something surprisingly new.  Click here to see even more information on spoon and fork jewelry.  Click here to see cool thumb rings made of recycled, silver spoons.

Perfect Little Vase or Candy Dish or Candle Holder

I'm featuring this gorgeous little fused glass vase that looks so much like Raku.  The colors are just beautiful!! This particular, fused glass piece has unique markings on either side.  In the first photograph you will see what almost looks like water spots in spectacular rainbow colors.  In the second photograph you'll notice on the opposite side of the vase, the same color pattern is gradually transformed into a slight rainbow effect.  The inside is completely black.

What is awesome with a fused glass piece of art, such as this one, is that it can have a practical use such as serving as a candy dish, a flower vase (would look awesome with a bouquet of Hydrangeas, Peones or any other bulky flower), a perfect candle holder, votive holder or tea light holder and my all time favorite:  let it shine all on its own.  The best part of it, I'm offering this item as part of my Winter Clearance Sale, so now is the time to get this little beauty.  Click here for more info.

Super Clearance Sale in my Bayside Wire Designs Store

As an artist, I have to admit, I don't exactly offer clearance items too often.  I think, when it comes to art, it just doesn't seem like you mark down art.  I think this is quite the dilemma for most artists who sell their work from a storefront.  It just seems very unethical, but if we're going to somewhat succeed in making a living with our craft, we need to bend the rules, adjust to a certain degree, to the rules of retailing.  And it is for this reason, that I am offering a Super Clearance Sale in my Etsy Shop BaysideWireDesigns.

Take advantage  because it doesn't happen too often.  As most artist would agree with me, it's time consuming and expensive for materials, tools without even mentioning the design aspect of our art.  That being said, when you see art on sale, you grab it because you know you're getting a great deal!!!  The extra bonus being that the particular item is handmade with tender, love and care.

I have 45 listed items in my Super Clearance Sale Category and I will be adding more.  Click here to see my store (make sure to add to your favorites for quick access to check regularly for newly added sales.)

Different Design African, Tribal Earring Hoops Sterling Silver

I just added two more interesting, tribal earring hoop designs.  Click here for more info.  See picture of one of the designs below:

New Tribal Earrings African Hoops in Sterling Silver

These new tribal, sterling silver, African hoops are my latest creation.  I made a few pairs in various sizes.  I find them awesome!! I thinned out the part that fits through your ear hole, so that it can pass and fit comfortably.  I also added texture to them, which you can't really see in the photo, but it almost looks a lot like cut diamond.  It adds to the fun African, ethnic look.  Click here for more information on these ethnic, tribal, African beauties.

Make sure to check out the huge Clearance Sale that I'm having.  Go to the Clearance Sale section of my store here.

Adopt Lily the Taffy Artist Made Bear Marriage Proposal Idea

I'm really excited and happy to introduce to you: "Lily."  She's my latest handmade creation.  She has a beautiful coat of genuine Mohair, that is sort of scruffy looking, which I really like.  It gives her some character, don't you think?

I used German glass eyes and metal cotter joints for durability.  I added small glass pellets to her bum and feet, for weight (thus enabling her to stand when she's placed just right.)

Obviously, Lily, is not a toy.  She's an artistic, handmade bear for decoration or collecting.  She will make the greatest gift!  Here is a cute gift suggestion:  Add a ring to Lily's bow and offer the bear  as a gift for a really cute way to propose.  Add any kind of jewelry to her as an original way to present the jewelry gift.

Click here to read more about Lily.  Check out my December Sales Section for savings up to 40%.  Plus choose your free gift section is quite cool, as well.
