My Photograph Featured in Canadian Magazine

A few years ago, I submitted some Humpback Whale photographs to a contest held by "Our Canada Magazine." I never heard anything about it and figured out that I didn't win, and that was o.k.  I really thought the photographs were worth submitting because of the most awesome display by Humpbacks; a superb double breach!  We were excited to even just see Humpback Tails, we never expected to see what we did.  So, you can understand that even if I didn't win, I was eager to share this shot with someone!

A couple of years later, I received an email from Our Canada's editor explaining that even though I didn't win, they held on to the photographs and knew they wanted to use them in a future issue of the magazine and wanted a small write-up of the day we went whale watching on the Bay of Fundy.  Of course I was thrilled and accepted the terms, and now in the September issue of "Our Canada Magazine" this amazing double breach, the Humpbacks in all their glory, was shared with thousands of readers across Canada!

Learn How to Make Awesome Jewelry with this Book

This is one of my favorite jewelry making books!  I wouldn't say this is for the beginner though.  I feel that you need a certain basic knowledge of jewelry making before jumping into this book.  I felt it was somewhat advanced.  What I really like with the book is that it has helped me grow as a jewelry artisan.  Through clear photographs and varying techniques, I have learned to push the borders of my designs. I would highly recommend this book!

Crystal Pendants

I always enjoy custom orders because they force me to think outside the box and that's when the best ideas come. One of my clients brought me some lovely, Crystal point Clusters of various sizes so that I would make pendants for her grand daughters. When I sat at the bench and began cutting to separate some of the nicer Crystal points, the clusters fell apart leaving me with many little Crystal pieces. At first, I was a bit frustrated because things were not going too well with the project. But after some pondering, I came up with the idea of making little, sterling silver flowers with Crystal Clusters as the flower centers. I used Resin Epoxy for this design. I suggested making a different flower for each grand daughter and I personalized it by engraving the back with each one's initial. My client was very pleased with the end result! It's funny how custom orders push the borders of creativity and enables you to create something new and unique. I will be growing on the idea of this design for some of my future designs. I'm already working on something interesting and can't wait to share!

New Victorian Antiqued Sterling Silver Spoon Earrings

I just added a pair of beautiful, antiqued, Victorian style spoon earrings in quality, .925 sterling silver.  I handmade the ear wires in sterling silver as well.

I designed this smokey Quartz Choker around a gorgeous, Quartz baguette stone that I purchased.  It has elegance written all over it!

My jewelry designs are very seldom born at the work bench; it is actually quite the opposite.  After examining the stone for some time, I will ponder over it and try to figure out what setting would most suit this particular stone.

Basically, gold-filled wire is a good metal for a good price. I know of old wire jewelry pieces in which several have actual dates on them. Gold-filled jewelry can really stand the test of time.
